Rookie Kon Knueppel erupted for 29 points, and with Brandon Miller contributing 25, the Charlotte Hornets shut down the Cavaliers in overtime to claim a rare road win, 119-111.
Knueppel, the No. 4 pick in this year’s NBA draft, followed up a season-best 33 in Friday’s loss to Chicago with another strong performance. Miller notched a career-high 13 rebounds and six assists.
Miles Bridges added 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists as Charlotte moved to 3-10 away from home.
Cleveland, meanwhile, missed all 10 of its OT attempts, continuing a troubling stretch for a club that was expected to contend in the East.
Darius Garland totaled 26 points and Donovan Mitchell had 17 for the Cavaliers, who have shown inconsistency through the season’s first two months.
Jaylen Tyson posted 16 points and 13 rebounds for Cleveland, which has dropped six of its last nine.
Cavs erased a 17-point deficit in the third, tying the game in the final moments of regulation. Mitchell had a look to win at the horn but missed a 12-foot jumper after a 48-point performance at Washington on Friday.
WIZARDS 108, PACERS 89
INDIANAPOLIS — Marvin Bagley III poured in a season-high 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while CJ McCollum added 18 as Washington snapped a long road-win drought with a triumph over Indiana.
Bagley recorded his second double-double of the season. Justin Champagnie chipped in 13 points and 14 rebounds for Washington.
The Wizards stopped a four-game skid and sit at 2-11 on the road, with their other away victory coming Oct. 24 at Dallas.
Defensively, Washington carried the day as Indiana, shorthanded, posted its second-worst field-goal percentage of the year (36.9%) and its third-worst 3-point figure (25.6%).
Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 15 points as the Cavs’ counterpart struggled to find a cohesive rhythm on offense.
NETS 127, BUCKS 82
NEW YORK — Egor Demin had 17 points and Noah Clowney 16 as Brooklyn dominated a depleted Milwaukee squad, matching the franchise’s largest victory margin on record in a rout that never put the Bucks in the game.
The 45-point win ties the old Nets mark from Jan. 9, 1993, when New Jersey was still playing in that era’s lineup. Brooklyn has surged to 4-2 over its past six after starting 3-13, and they’re 3-1 at home after a 0-9 start.
Brooklyn head coach Jordi Fernández missed the game due to illness, with assistant Steve Hetzel guiding the squad in his stead.
Gary Trent Jr. poured in 20 for Milwaukee, while Kyle Kuzma added 13. The Bucks have dropped three of four since Giannis Antetokounmpo strained his right calf early in a win over Detroit on December 3.
HAWKS 120, 76ERS 117
ATLANTA — Dyson Daniels posted 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Onyeka Okongwu finished with 20 points and 15 boards as the Hawks held off Philadelphia.
Quentin Grimes had a chance to force overtime, but his 3-pointer at the buzzer clanged out, sealing Atlanta’s 15th win of the season.
Daniels shot 13 of 19 from the floor. Vít Krejci added 19 points, and Zaccharie Risacher had 15.
Paul George led Philadelphia with 35 points, while VJ Edgecombe and Joel Embiid contributed 26 and 22 points respectively, with Embiid grabbing 14 rebounds. The 76ers led only briefly, at 47-46 in the second quarter.
Edgecombe’s 17 points in the third quarter kept Philadelphia close as George and Embiid watched from the bench.
