Hong Kong actor Wong You-nam has taken on a part-time gig as a bus driver, a move he’s made as acting opportunities have dried up. The 42-year-old recently turned heads on an airport-route bus when some passengers spotted him on board. Even with a face mask on, he was quickly recognized by several riders.
A former member of the Cantopop group Shine, Wong explained to Hong Kong media that he needed extra income to ride out periods without acting roles.
China Press reports that he must log 120 driving hours every six months. Beyond buses, Wong also holds a taxi license, and he is reportedly pursuing a heavy vehicle license next.
Outside driving, he runs a YouTube channel about cars and has dabbled in racing, earning the nickname "King Of All Vehicles" within Hong Kong’s entertainment circle.
Many online observers have praised his industrious mindset and independent spirit, while some joked about hoping to ride with him someday.
Responding to the positive feedback, Wong stayed grounded, saying on social media, "Being a bus driver isn’t easy at all. I believe everyone who works hard for their livelihood deserves our utmost respect."
Wong began his acting career in 2002 and has since appeared in projects such as Ip Man (2008), The Jade And The Pearl (2010), Gangster Payday (2014), and Crisis Negotiators (2024), among others.
