BROADCAST BIAS: Networks demonize ICE as ‘Trump’s Gestapo,’ downplay attacks on them (2026)

The media's bias is a powerful force, and it's time we shed light on the disturbing narrative being pushed by certain networks. ICE, the agency responsible for immigration enforcement, is being vilified as 'Trump's Gestapo', a comparison that not only undermines the agency's work but also trivializes historical atrocities. But here's where it gets controversial: this narrative is being peddled by the very networks that claim to be impartial fact-checkers.

Let's break this down. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, labeled ICE agents as 'Trump's modern-day Gestapo,' a shocking statement that went largely unchallenged by the national broadcast networks. It's a disturbing trend - comparing law enforcement to Nazi storm troopers is perfectly acceptable, it seems, as long as Democrats aren't the ones being criticized.

And this is the part most people miss: the Democrats' opposition to ICE isn't just about deportation policies. It's a complete rejection of any cooperation with the agency. They push for resistance, and as a result, ICE agents have become targets of violence. Yet, when an illegal alien ran over and dragged an ICE agent in Chicago, the broadcast networks showed no sympathy for the agent.

The death of Renee Nicole Good, who threatened an ICE agent, is a tragedy, but it's also an opportunity to discuss the fine line between protest and crime. While protesting ICE's actions is protected by the First Amendment, actively impeding law enforcement is not.

The media's coverage of this death was predictable - massive energy and outrage. But where was this fervor when women were killed by illegal immigrants? The elitist media would likely brush these murders aside as atypical, but is it really typical for ICE to shoot a protester?

ICE agents have reported an unprecedented surge in car attacks, yet the broadcast networks remain silent on these issues. They gave a mere 20 minutes to the trial of an illegal immigrant's killer, while dedicating 78 minutes to a comedian's comments about Puerto Rico. It's clear where their priorities lie.

Not everyone is letting the Democrats' rhetoric go unchecked. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, for example, was challenged by CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil for his inflammatory statements, such as demanding ICE 'get the f---out of Minneapolis.' Frey's response? He basically said he won't be calming the situation down, as he's 'standing up for the immigrant community' and 'keeping people safe.'

The language used by Democrats is Orwellian. Illegal immigrants are 'our neighbors,' and opposing deportation is 'keeping people safe.' ICE, on the other hand, is accused of 'sowing chaos.' It's a twisted narrative where radicals impeding ICE are seen as heroes.

But don't call activists like Good 'radical.' The press prefers to portray her as 'just a mom.' NBC's Maggie Vespa claimed, 'without evidence,' that the Trump administration was wrong to suggest Good was radicalized.

When these networks say 'without evidence,' it's often because they haven't bothered to look. Good was an anti-ICE 'warrior,' and her son attended a school dedicated to social justice education.

The broadcast networks' bias extends beyond their newscasts. ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, in a 'comedic' segment, mocked Trump and ICE, further fueling the fire. And on ABC's 'The View,' cohost Whoopi Goldberg took their loathing of Trump to a new level, scaring their audience with suggestions that anyone could be a target of ICE.

The networks' double standard is clear. They avoid left-wing rhetorical excess when it suits them, but they'll happily promote it when it aligns with their agenda. Videos circulated on X show protesters chanting 'Kristi Noem will Hang!' and 'Save a life, kill an ICE!' - a disturbing echo of the post-George Floyd riots. Instead of condemning this rhetoric, the networks use it to fuel their narrative of 'growing outrage' against ICE and Trump.

It's time we hold these networks accountable for their biased reporting and the dangerous narratives they promote. The question remains: will they ever be held to the same standards they set for others? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
